The company's history goes back to 1968 in Zurich when Albert Denz set up a business representing various German office furniture manufacturers. Soon after that, Denz began to develop and produce its own office equipment. The company has remained faithful to its unmistakable style ever since: consistent product design for office furniture and fittings with form and functionality intended to last.
Cooperation with the Zurich-based designers Greutmann Bolzern from 1984 onwards oriented product design decisively in the direction of 'form follows function'. Functional system ranges strengthen the profile of the Denz brand name in a market that places increasing importance on flexible, space-efficient office solutions.
In 1996, Denz developed the D3 office equipment system with Greutmann Bolzern. For the first time ever, this innovative modular system made genuine, comprehensive modular configurations possible using wood and aluminium as the basic materials. D3unites the needs for flexibility, good design, longevity, ergonomic, economy efficiency and ecology – the original design was soon to become a classic. With its innovative D5 shelving system, the two ranges of tables and the coherent further development of existing products, Denz has established itself as special name for special demands.
All Denz products are developed at the company's headquarters in Nänikon near Zurich and are the result of outstanding Swiss craftsmanship using high-quality materials. With the Zurich Design Centre, Denz offers its customers, architects, interior designers and planners a variety of exhibition rooms and contact spaces for consultancy and sales. In addition to direct sales at Nänikon, Denz also markets its products through a carefully selected network of official dealers.
Denz AG's CEO is Jürg Winterberg. An experienced furnishings specialist, he is the former CEO of Vitra and Belux and used to be Head of Sales for Switzerland with Girsberger. Denz AG is part of the Swiss Lienhard Office Group AG, which posts higher sales than any other company in the Swiss office furniture market.
